TRANSPORTATION BENCHMARKING PROGRAM
This service meets a basic need for any K-12 district that transports children in today’s world. It will provide information on topics from compliance to efficiency to key operational and cost benchmarking data. Benchmark4Excellence (www.Benchmark4Excellence.org) and Innovative Transportation Solutions (www.itranssolutions.org) (A Region 4 ESC Center of Excellence) have teamed up to make this service available.
This benchmarking program was successfully piloted in the summer of 2009 and has since been enhanced and expanded. In the most recent study of 2009-2010 data a number of large districts throughout the State of Texas participated. Members of this program include; Aldine ISD, Austin ISD, Barbers Hill ISD, Conroe ISD, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, Duncanville ISD, Forney ISD, Hutto ISD, Killeen ISD, Klein ISD, Leander ISD, Lubbock ISD, Pasadena ISD, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD, and Rockwall ISD.
Expenses in the study group varied by over $2.00 per mile and identified multiple areas of opportunity for the participants. Transportation expenses can add up quickly when you consider that a typical district travels 100 miles per year for each enrolled student and is only reimbursed by the State 30 to 40 cents for every dollar they actually spend. Learning how to trim a few pennies per mile off your expenses can add to significant dollars for your district.
For the current study we will be looking at the 2010-2011 actual results from member districts.
Timing:
- Districts can begin signing up starting on August 1st, 2011.
- All data will need to be submitted by December 9th, 2011.
- User Conference will be on February 20th, 2012.
